Whitley welcomes Carrie Chiu as the new Executive Assistant to the Principal.

11 Oct 2023

We warmly welcome Carrie Chiu as a new member of staff at Whitley.

Carrie joins us as Executive Assistant to the Principal, supporting Interim Whitley Principal, Rev Associate Professor Darrell Jackson.

Carrie’s most recent background is in the education sector, where for the last 14 years she held the position of Personal Assistant to the Principal of an independent Kinder – Year 12 Christian school. Previously she worked with a not-for-profit organisation in Brisbane which provided social and therapeutic services to the community. Carrie loves being part of organisations where she knows that her contribution is helping them make a difference in the lives of others, including through education and training.

Carrie came to faith as a teenager and has enjoyed being part of a number of denominations during her Christian journey, although predominantly with Churches of Christ and Baptist congregations.

Carrie and her husband have four young adult children, three of whom still live at home, along with a one-toothed fifteen-year-old blue Burmese cat. She enjoys reading, music, attending both amateur and professional musical theatre, trying new cafes and restaurants, good movies and spending time with family and friends. She also loves travelling when opportunities arise, exploring new places and cultures.

Carrie only started at Whitley on 25th September but already feels at home thanks to the warm welcome staff have given her and the intersection of various stages of her faith journey and past church associations that she has found here.

We look forward to getting to know Carrie more as she settles into her new role.
